Tea has long been used by shamans and herbal healers to improve psychic ability and sensitivity. In the modern era, shamans, practitioners of Wicca, and spiritual healers have all turned to the long-standard tea to increase focus, improve longevity, and promote holistic health.
Teas vs. Psychedelic Brews
Before beginning a course of tea, understand what the differences between modern teas and shamanistic teas are. While they both derive from herbal sources, shamanistic teas typically had a psychedelic component.
The most famous of these shamanistic teas is Ayahuasca. A combination of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and the leaves of the Chacruna plant, it is said to induce deep trance-like states of meditative power.
While these teas are still ingested worldwide, most western countries have outlawed their use due to the presence of chemicals considered to be "harmful drugs." When speaking of tea in this article, we will be speaking of modern brews only.
Centering Yourself Through Tea
One of the most powerful ways tea can be used to enhance psychic ability is through meditation. While the meditative state is relatively easy to enter into for practiced users, newcomers may find the process long and arduous.
Tea can help relax even the most stressed out yogis. Substances in tea such as Kava Kava, Chamomile, and Valerian Root have documented calming effects, capable of bringing the drinker to heightened states of relaxation. This is inverse to the effects of caffeine on the body, however these effects operate in tandem.
Focus Through Tea
While the calming effect should be counteracted by the presence of caffeine in many teas, the inverse reaction is extremely common - caffeine can keep the brain active while the body relaxes. Through a combination of effects between the body, the caffeine, and the specific ingredients present, the body enters into a heightened state of awareness as the tea is processed.
This can be extremely helpful for meditative focusing of psychic ability, as it frees your body and mind from co-dependency and restriction.
Center Through Tea
Finally, tea can help you center your thoughts. While meditation and psychic ability is largely dependent on the ability of the user to focus on the task at hand, the mind is often extremely busy, making this practice hard.
By ingesting tea and focusing on the cues - sight, smell, taste, feel - the mind can be cleared of all other thoughts, improving the response of the mind and body in concert with one another.
